A general overview on home theater types
A home theater system is an interesting form of home entertainment system where a set of audio and video
components are integrated or combined so as to generate an experience that mimics the quality of sound and video
experienced while watching a movie in a theater. Some of the basic components of a home theater system include an
input device, a processing device, an audio system and a video output unit. There are different factors depending
on which home theater types differ. These include the types of screens used for video output, types of speakers
that are used for audio output and also depend on the input devices.
In case of audio units or surround sound speaker systems, there are three different configurations available in
the market. These include 5.1, 6.1 and 7.1. While 5, 6 and 7 indicate the number of audio channels available and
also the number of speakers that can be connected, 1 indicates the number of sub-woofers. One can select any of
these depending on the room size, shape and dimensions. Home theater types also depend on types of screens. Some
options in this category include permanent, portable, manual and electric. Apart from these, TVs can also be used
as screens. Technological advancements have resulted in the evolution of big screen televisions such as Plasma TVs,
Liquid Crystal Display or LCD TVs and Rear Projection Televisions or RPTVs. Each one of these has its own set of
advantages and disadvantages. One can select any of these depending on individual preferences and requirements.
Home Theater Types Are Primarily Dependant On The Types Of Components Being Used In Setting Up A Home Theater
System.
